Special Educational Needs

Special Educational Needs

If the nursery staff are concerned that a child is not making progress or is experiencing a particular difficulty, they discuss their concern with the Early Years Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and, if necessary, the Principal. The parents are then told of the school’s areas of concern. The staff make recommendations and, with parental approval, a plan of action to help the child is agreed. Children who have special educational needs are monitored very closely and are often helped by other agencies, e.g. speech therapists, educational psychologists, hearing or sight impairment specialists.
